My name is Laura, and my husband Eric and I live in Colorado. Though we love this state and this country, we desire much more than we can find here. I think we desire more than we can find anywhere – but that’s to be seen.
I think desire is a word with relatively negative connotations in modern society. When did we decide that the way life “should be” was to settle down, have kids, trap yourself in a mortgage you can’t afford, and continuously strive to live beyond your means? (I know this is a gross generalization, but I’m doing so in hopes of making a point)
Eric and I decided that we are not succumbing to what society tells us we “have” to do. We’ll do what we like, and be responsible, mature, loving adults who are actually beneficial to society. We live by many beliefs, but one is the golden rule. We also support local businesses, boycott large corporations with disregard to human rights, buy our food from local sources, and treat the environment with the respect it deserves.
Aside from all that soap-box speak up there (which in all sincerity is really how we feel) we live a pretty normal life in a pretty normal place. Hopefully that will all change soon. This blog is about our journey to find a new state of homeostasis.
